Yumiko Furukawa Solo Exhibition “Pressure” at Guam CAHA Gallery

We are pleased to present the exhibition “Pressure” at the Guam Council on the Arts and Humanities Agency (CAHA) Gallery.

Furukawa left Tokyo and moved to Guam in August 2019. While living on the colorful tropical island, she has been pursuing black and white, light and darkness in her pencil drawings. In her most recent work, she expresses the seven colors of light, which can be felt as hope, through sculptures and acrylic paintings made of synthetic resin. The exhibition will feature about 20 works created by Furukawa from 2019 to 2023, during the pandemic caused by COVID19 and the typhoon damage caused by Typhoon Mawar. We hope you will visit and enjoy the exhibition.

This project is supported in part by a grant from the national endowment for the arts, the Guam Council on the arts and Humanities Agency, Government of Guam, and the office of the Governor.
